JACQUELINE BROWN

A beautiful song and a spooky trilogy

I am blessed to be in a house where there is often music. My husband plays guitar and piano, neither as much as he wants. My oldest son plays violin and piano, neither as much as he should. And my younger son is the true musician. He is constantly playing, listening, learning, and playing again—it is a truly beautiful gift that he has and one that I jokingly tell him I take full credit for. Afterall, I was the one who forced him to take piano lessons and practice.😉

His gift, that I basically forced him to create, is now gifting me. So much of what is worth doing in life is like that, it starts out as a fight and a struggle. There were years of my husband and me grimacing as the boys practiced, but now we are very much reaping the rewards. When Matthew is not playing, he is listening and he has introduced us to some beautiful songs. One of his newer favorites is “A River Flows in You” by Yiruma. I wrote a short story for the Altered Series as I was listening to this song over and over again. His love became my love, and I found that I also wanted to listen to it on repeat. So one night at soccer practice that is what I did, and I wrote a short story as I did so. That short story and two others will be my gift to you very soon. They are currently with my editor and once they’re back and all ready to go, I will share them with you. The sequel to Altered has been a long time coming, so perhaps you will accept these as a bit of a hold over. I will share more about them very soon!

As you may recall my little publishing company, Falling Dusk Publishing, recently had a writing contest. We had 12 entries and I am spending some time reading those entries. Last weekend, as I was reading Angelina Salvaggio‘s book, Secret Dwellings Matthew was sitting beside me listening to Ludovico Einaudi’s “Nuvole Bianche” over and over and over again. The beautiful story and beautiful song are now forever connected in my mind. They go perfectly together! So, if you’re looking for a way to fill a rainy day (it has been raining here for two days, as I’m writing this) then I highly recommend turning “Nuvole Bianche” on repeat and getting your own copy of Secret Dwellings.

Of course, it is October and in October you might want something a little spooky to read, in which case I recommend my Awakening Trilogy. You can see a review from Catholic Mom and Daughter on these and other spooky October reads. Perfectly timed for October – that trilogy is on sale starting October 15th -22nd. The ebook of Awakening is Free from the 15th -19th so get your own copy or tell your friends! (A free book is a great way to get to know a new author!!) And then Gifted and Haunted are .99 and 1.99 from the 15th – 22nd, that way everyone can keep reading.

I’m very excited to send you my short stories very soon (hopefully November) and then to share with you the winners of the Falling Dusk Publishing writing contest in early December.

I’m so very grateful to each of you. Thank you for your prayers and patience, as you so kindly wait for my new stories.

Have a beautiful start to Fall and I hope your home is filled with beautiful music as you read something equally beautiful.

God Bless,
